Hi Everyone! My name is EmmaKate (A.K.A. EK) Few and I am a 17 year old from Georgia. The world of blogging is new to me so please bare with me as I get the hang of it! I have always had a love for writing so I am excited for this new outlet to express my beliefs through my keyboard! While the title of my blog may seem a little corny since I decided to be "punny" by incorporating my last name, and the "be you" encouragement may seem a little cliche, I hope that my message will still be effective. As a teen growing up in today's society, I have a serious concern for the future leaders of our nation. Not because of the terrible tragedies I hear about every time I flip on the news (unfortunately these seem to have always existed), but because my generation seems to have a serious lack of self confidence. How can we expect our nation to be prosperous when our future leaders are too consumed by the concern that they look fat in their selfies or that their new pair of shoes might not be the 'it' thing to be wearing?! My goal is to help my generation get on the right path by sharing my story with others and leading other young adults in their journey of self discovery and self worth. While many of my blogpost may focus on tips to living a healthy lifestyle, recipes, fashion trends, etc... these are only to help readers discover their true inner beauty by helping them create an overall confidently beautiful lifestyle.
With all that said, I believe it is now time for y'all to get to know me a little bit better. Below are 5 things that you need to know about the real EK... (because I'm obviously not going to try to act like I am someone I am not while encouraging you to BE YOU)!
1) I'll admit it, I'm a nerd who likes to be in charge. I am way too excited to be a senior in High School this year. Not necessarily because that means I am one year closer to going to college, but because senior year means that you finally get to run for president of clubs, etc AND class rank is official!! While this may not seem like too big of a deal for most people, you first must realize that I ran for sophomore class president on the 2nd day of being in a new school (bold move) and I absolutely love school and have worked extremely hard to be ranked second in my class (I see lots of speech writing in the future between student body president and the salutatorian address).
2) I come from a very athletic family with both of my older brothers playing college sports, but... unfortunately I was not blessed with the uber athletic gene. While I do enjoy cross country running and cheerleading, you will definitely not be seeing me on any division 1 sports team anytime soon. In fact, my skill set is actually quite the opposite and I truly have a passion for the arts! I even attended a Fine Arts Magnet school for middle school and ninth grade where I got to study theatre and ballet during school (I also had to take math so don't get too jealous).
3) I can't drive. Well not very well at least...(There will be a post soon to prove that this is not just my family's assumptions). I can manage to navigate an airport however! Thank goodness because I love to travel and my modeling jobs usually require me to travel alone.
4) Yes, modeling and pageants are two of my very favorite hobbies. No that does not mean I only feel beautiful with a full face of makeup and my hair teased to heaven. I can't remember which Miss USA contestant stated this during the broadcast this year but props to whoever it was... I am training my brain like a politician, my body like a professional athlete, and my posture like the queen of England.
5) My faith is an extremely important part of my life. I am a huge believer in Romans 9:17 and I truly believe that in every action I do, I must give God the glory. We are all called to this earth for the purpose of sharing his love and proclaiming his name over all the earth and not our own. Along with the importance of my faith comes my obsession with praise music (My friend's even nicknamed my car the "bible mobile" because I absolutely love to jam out to the FCA albums and Jamie Grace)!
Stay True and BE YOU,
EK Few
